Oil Exploration Company Participates in Meeting to Prepare Study to Identify Groundwater Reservoirs in Northern Regions

In implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, and the Director General of Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, an important meeting was held at the headquarters of the General Authority for Groundwater on 16 October 2024, attended by the Director of the Geology and Geophysics Division, Mr. Ali Hamza Hejouj, along with a group of specialists from Oil Exploration Company, to prepare an integrated study aimed at identifying groundwater reservoirs in the northern regions of Iraq. The meeting discussed the data available to both sides and discussed frameworks for future cooperation with the aim of preserving water resources and exploiting them in the best possible way.

This step comes within the framework of supporting oil operations and projects in those areas, and providing the necessary water for various uses. It is expected that a series of subsequent meetings will be held to develop appropriate mechanisms to implement the recommendations reached in a manner that ensures sustainability in exploiting water resources and meeting the needs of oil projects.
