Oil Exploration Company Holds Training Workshop on Oil and Human Rights in Cooperation with Human Rights Commission
The Legal Department and Human Rights Unit in Oil Exploration Company (OEC), in cooperation with the High Commission for Human Rights/Baghdad Office, held a training workshop entitled “Oil and Human Rights”, as part of the implementation of the National Human Rights Plan in Iraq.
The workshop was held on Thursday 17 October 2024, in Muhammad Fawzi Hall, and the lecture was presented by the international expert and Director of Publication and Education at the Commission, Mr. Baraa Najib Al-Hadithi.
The workshop was attended by the Assistant Director General for Administrative Affairs, Mr. Hussein Shuwail Awda, in addition to a number of OEC employees. The workshop addressed many important topics, including human rights in Iraq and the United Nations conventions related to them, and the impact of the oil wealth on the national economy and its reflection on improving the level of services.
In this context, the company’s Director General, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, during his reception of representatives of the legal department and the human rights unit in OEC, along with the Director of the Publication and Education Department in the Commission, stressed the importance of organizing such workshops, given their role in raising the level of awareness among employees regarding human rights and enhancing the legal culture in the company.
