Oil Exploration Company Celebrates Completion of “Qayara” 3D Program

Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, Oil Exploration Company (OEC) organized a celebration on the occasion of completion of Qayara Program for 3D seismic surveys in Nineveh Governorate, as part of licensing rounds, which was implemented by Seismic Crew 7. The Director General of OEC, Mr. Osama Raouf Hussein, confirmed that this achievement is an important step in strengthening the national economy, as it contributes to increasing oil and gas reserves and achieving sustainable economic and industrial development, and praised the efforts of the workers in Seismic Crew 7 who completed seismic survey work in record time. The Director General pointed out that there are future programs in Nineveh Governorate, including Habbara-Hamwiyah Program, and the Najma Program, in addition to other programs that will be implemented in various governorates.

The Director General stated that work teams faced major challenges during implementation of the program, but they succeeded in overcoming them thanks to the determination and insistence on achieving the goals set by the Ministry's plans that are part of the government program. He further appreciated the efforts of Seismic Crew 7 workers by honoring them with certificates of appreciation, and praised their dedication and contribution to the successful completion of the project. The celebration, which has been attended by a number of members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, the Governor of Nineveh, and the Operations Commander, was held at the crew’s headquarters, in the presence of the Assistant Director General for Technical Affairs, the Director of the Field Operation Division, and representatives of the Angolan company "Sonancol", the operator of the field. The celebration included several items that highlighted the importance of this achievement in developing the national oil sector.

It is worth noting that the Qayara 3D program is one of the strategic projects that aim to invest in hydrocarbon wealth in Iraq and develop the energy sector, which enhances the country's ability to exploit its natural resources and achieve economic development goals.
