OEC Organizes Awareness Symposium on Combating Violence Against Women

As part of the “16 Days to Combat Violence against Women” Campaign, which is launched for the period 25 November 2024 until 10 December 2024, Women's Affairs Unit in Oil Exploration Company (OEC), in coordination with Training and Development Department, organized an awareness symposium entitled "Combating Violence against Women". The symposium was held on 3 December 2024 in the Continuing Education Hall at OEC headquarters.

The lecture was presented by Ms. Kholoud Lutfi from the Human Rights Commission of the House of Representatives, and addressed several main topics, most notably highlighting the alarming increase in cases of violence against women, emphasizing the importance of strengthening societal commitments and calling for accountability and serious work by decision-makers.

The symposium aims to raise awareness of the seriousness of violence against women, not only as a personal harm to them, but as a threat that affects society as a whole, as it leads to reducing women's job opportunities and weakening their job performance. The symposium witnessed fruitful discussions on enhancing the role of women and their importance in developing the oil and energy sector, with the attendance of a group of employees from OEC divisions and departments. This initiative comes within the context of OEC commitment to supporting women’s issues and contributing to creating a more just and inclusive work environment.
