OEC Holds Awareness Symposium on Preventive Measures to Combat Corruption

As part of the efforts made to enhance integrity and combat corruption, the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Subcommittee, in cooperation with the Special Committee for Regulating the Code of Conduct in Oil Exploration Company (OEC), held an awareness symposium on the preventive measures necessary to reduce corruption. The symposium came as part of a field visit conducted by the Sub-Team for Implementing the National Strategy to Reduce Fraud and Combat Corruption to the sites of seismic crew 1, seismic crew 6 and seismic crew 4, in addition to Drilling Operations Division in Burjisiya.

During the visit, the committee members, Ms. Zahraa Basil Ismail and Ms. Sarah Salih Radhi, gave a series of awareness lectures to the staff working in those sites. The lectures included the main topics related to the integrity and transparency report in the company, and a review of the preventive, administrative and penal measures necessary to combat corruption. The importance of adhering to the rules of professional conduct in protecting the public service was also highlighted, and the attendees were familiarized with human rights according to international conventions and national legislations. The two lecturers touched on Integrity Law No. 30 of 2011, as amended, stressing the importance of understanding the causes and effects of corruption crimes and the phenomena and risks associated with implementing the National Strategy to Combat Corruption.

These efforts come within the framework of OEC commitment to supporting national initiatives aimed at enhancing integrity and transparency and establishing professional values in the work environment.
