OEC Celebrates Iraqi Geologists Day

Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul Ghani, and in the presence of Director General of Oil Exploration Company (OEC), Mr. Osama Raouf Hussein, OEC organized a special celebration on the occasion of Iraqi Geologists Day, which falls on 16 December of each year, in “Mohammed Fawzi” Hall at OEC headquarters.

The celebration was attended by Head of Iraqi Geologists Syndicate, Mr. Saad Obaid, along with Deputy Director General for Technical and Administrative Affairs and a number of OEC employees. During the ceremony, a group of geologists working in OEC, who had a prominent imprint in the field of geological work and contributed to strengthening OEC position and developing its performance, were honoured.

In his speech during the ceremony, the Director General praised the key role of geologists in achieving economic development, describing geologists as “the basis of development” for the contributions they make to exploring natural resources and supporting the national economy. This celebration comes in appreciation of the efforts made by Iraqi geologists in serving the oil sector, and in support of their continued giving in facing challenges and achieving accomplishments that contribute to enhancing the path of sustainable development.
